A few years ago, I was invited by Landmark Recovery Podcast to speak on a topic I’d been passionate about for years: why talk therapy doesn’t cut it for so many people, even when they do everything ‘right
The episode was called “When Talk Therapy Doesn’t Cut It.” And while that conversation happened in 2021, the conversation has never been more timely.
Why I Was Asked:
Landmark Recovery didn’t just want a therapist’s perspective. They wanted someone who understood the traditional mental health system from the inside — and had chosen to go beyond it.
As a former Administrator for the Napa County Health and Human Services Alcohol & Drug Program, I had spent years watching how conventional treatment approaches helped people — and where they consistently fell short. That institutional background, combined with my evolution as a clinician into RTT, clinical hypnotherapy, and NLP, gave me a unique lens: I wasn’t criticizing the system from the outside. I had worked within it, believed in it, and came to understand both its value and its limits firsthand.
That combination — system insider turned integrative clinician — is exactly why they chose me for this conversation.
Why Talk Therapy Doesn’t Cut It — What We Actually Discussed:
In the interview, I shared why traditional talk therapy — while valuable — can fall short for people dealing with unresolved trauma and deeply ingrained patterns. The problem isn’t the person. It’s that talk therapy works at the conscious level, while most of our habits, fears, and self-defeating patterns live in the subconscious.
We discussed Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), subconscious reprogramming, and how helping clients identify and release negative unconscious patterns — without having to relive traumatic memories — creates lasting change rather than just symptom management.
Why People Are Finally Getting It:
In 2021, subconscious healing was still considered “alternative.” Today, more and more people are arriving at my practice having already tried years of talk therapy and are actively looking for something that works at a deeper level. The science is catching up. The awareness is growing. And the results my clients are experiencing speak for themselves.
